A benchmark version number is specific to a test. Benchmark version numbers change rarely and only when absolutely necessary to accommodate changes in third-party applications or bug fixes.

Benchmark results are comparable when the major digit of the benchmark version number is the same, i.e. scores from v1.1 of a benchmark test are comparable with scores from v1.0. 

You should not compare scores when the major digit of the benchmark version number is different. Scores from Work 3.0 are not comparable with scores from Work 2.0, for example.
