Benchmarks

A benchmark version number is specific to a test. Benchmark version numbers change rarely and only when absolutely necessary to accommodate changes in third-party applications or bug fixes.

These following changes positively affect runtime for the Battery Life Benchmark and battery units consumed for the One Hour Battery Consumption benchmark. All changes positively affect battery life estimates. Benchmark results with v1.6 are not comparable to v1.5 or earlier.  

Polling rate changes: 

• The 100ms polling mechanism has been replaced with a non-polling approach. 
• The 500ms polling has been removed entirely. 
• The heartbeat interval has been increased from 5000ms to 10000ms.

Helper executable:  BrightnessControl.exe 

• Replaced 32-bit binary with x64 and ARM64 native brightness control executables.

Exclusive to Office Productivity One-Hour Battery Consumption Benchmark and the Multiplatform Battery Life Benchmark

Harmonized the Office Productivity One Hour Battery Life and the Multiplatform Battery Life Benchmark with the multi-platform version of the Office Productivity Benchmark to improve comparability with the corresponding 2.1.165 benchmarks on macOS. These changes positively affect performance scores as well as battery life estimates.

• Screen updating is now disabled in the benchmark on Windows to match behavior on macOS using AppleScript.
