3DMark Sling Shot is a cross-platform benchmark for older mobile devices. We recommend using 3DMark Wild Life to benchmark modern mobile devices.
Benchmark | 3DMark Sling Shot |
Platforms | Android, iOS |
Target hardware | Entry-level Android smartphones and older iPhones and iPads |
Workloads | Graphics Test 1 measures GPU performance |
Workloads | Graphics Test 2 measures GPU performance |
Workloads | Physics Test measures CPU performance |
Graphics API | OpenGL ES 3.0 |
Rendering resolution | 1920 × 1080 |
Sling Shot is an OpenGL ES 3.0 benchmark for mobile devices that tests the full range of API features including multiple render targets, instanced rendering, uniform buffers, and transform feedback. It includes volumetric lighting and particle illumination, as well as depth of field and bloom post-processing effects.
The Graphics tests are rendered at 1920 × 1080 then scaled to the device's display resolution. The Physics Test is rendered at 1280 × 720 to ensure that GPU performance is not a limiting factor.
Unlimited mode
In Unlimited mode, the benchmark runs offscreen using a fixed time step between frames. Unlimited mode renders exactly the same frames in every run on every device. The display is updated with frame thumbnails every 100 frames to show progress. You can use Unlimited mode to make chip-to-chip comparisons without vertical sync, display resolution scaling, and other operating system factors affecting the result.
